The Perfect Preppy Accessory - Baseball Hats

One of my favorite accessories to use in the fall are adorable baseball hats like the Ralph Lauren one featured in this post. Although I definitely wear them year round, there is something about pairing one with a cute puffer vest and riding boots that just really pulls an outfit together in the fall. They not only are great for keeping your hair contained on those windy days, but also end up being a life saver when your hair woke up on the wrong side of the bed (which is basically every morning for me). Some of my favorite brands for baseball hats are Ralph Lauren, Vineyard Vines and J.Crew. I hope everyone is having a fabulous fall and stay tuned for my Beauty Essentials post which will be coming soon!

In(vest)ed in Fall

Some of my go-to fall essential wardrobe pieces are adorable vests like the ones pictured above. They add a necessary layer of warmth, while also perfectly completing a look. From adorable patterned ones that pair nicely with a sweater and jeans to sophisticated faux fur ones that elevate a simple dress, they are a necessary component for any well-dressed woman to have. Additionally, there are so many styles of vests available (puffer, fleece, faux fur, etc.), that you can easily find the one (or many!) that work best for you!

Make sure to check out my Pinterest board that shows some adorable ladies and they're amazing ways of styling vests for fall!

Wine Not? (A Very Belated Birthday Post)

September was such a busy month between school, work, and getting sick in the middle of it all, so I apologize for not posting in awhile. I have been meaning to do a post about my birthday outfit and I'm just finally getting around to it, so here it goes!

This burgundy/wine color is one of my favorites for fall. It is so versatile and adds a more muted pop of color to any outfit! For the delicious dinner that I got to go to on my birthday, I decided to pair these wine cropped pants with a glen plaid blazer and a crisp white button down. Additionally, I personally love mixing patterns which is why I paired this outfit with my favorite leopard flats! Even though glen plaid and leopard are two very different patterns, they work together because they are in the same color family. I hope you all are enjoying fall layers as much as I am!

All That Glitters

Although the heat has yet to subside, I'm trying to move into more fall-like looks because it's my absolute favorite season. This skirt is definitely a great option to make this transition with. I chose to pair it with a full sequined top and then kept the accessories to a minimum as to let these two pieces shine! Make sure to check out this skirt because it's on a great sale!

Fall Flats

1. Stubbs and Wootton // 2. Vince Camuto // 3. Boden // 4. Halogen // 5. Salvatore Ferragamo // 6. Tory Burch // 7. J.Crew // 8. J.Crew Factory // 9. Tieks // 10. Topshop // 11. Kate Spade // 12. Jack Rogers

One of my favorite accessories that I use in the transition time between summer and fall is a good pair of flats. They can be worn with dresses and skirts on the warmer days but also look adorable with a nice pair of cuffed jeans on the colder ones. This season so many brands have designed adorable and versatile flats that I couldn't help but to share them with all of you! All of these are definitely on my current wishlist because flats are an essential part to a classic, preppy closet. From the bright hues to add a pop of color to any look, to the neutrals with a slight edge to make a statement, all of these flats are definitely worth checking out! Hope you guys love flats (especially these ones) just as much as me!

Funky Floral

One of my favorite aspects of summer is wearing fun patterned shorts like the ones pictured below. Since I'm fairly short (5'2), sometimes bigger patterns aren't proportionally correct for me to wear in pants or dresses. However, that doesn't stop me from loving them just the same. Luckily brands and designers make adorable shorts in the same patterns, which I always stock my closet with. This black and cream pair were on such a great sale, I just couldn't say no! I then chose to pair them with a silky, racerback camisole and these amazing statement earrings! Make sure to check out the links below to find out where to purchase all of these wonderful items!

One Dress, Three Ways

Lilly Pulitzer Dress: similar (here or here)
Left: Shirt // Coach Sandals (similar) // Watch // J.Crew Factory Bracelet
Center: Sandals // Bracelet // Earrings
Right: J.Crew Blazer (similar) // J.Crew Sandals (no longer available online) // Lilly Pulitzer Pendant Necklace

I love dresses, especially those that are classic and can be worn multiple ways. Some key components a dress should have so that this idea can be achieved is a flattering silhouette, a good fabric and a timeless style. One of my favorite dresses that I am able to wear multiple ways is this Lilly Pulitzer navy, lace dress which I found at the Lilly Pulitzer Warehouse Sale this past summer. It fits like a glove, has adorable cap sleeves and isn't too long on me (a true plus)! I recently wore it for a casual day of shopping so I decided to tie a chambray shirt over it and pair it with simple nude wedges and fun accessories. Additionally, I wore it to an outdoor wedding I attended in July with some classic white sandals and simple silver jewelry. Lastly, I think this dress could easily be adapted for an office/work environment. By pairing it with a statement blazer (this one has adorable details under the collar and on the lining), nude sandals and a dainty necklace, it makes the transition from casual to professional extremely well. I hope some of you try to repurpose your dresses as well!

Designer Discovery: Boden

It is very rare for me to like almost every single piece in a brand's collection. Typically I like to have a wide variety of brands in my closet because I admire certain aspects of each. However, upon discovering Boden's fall collection I instantly fell in love. From the tailored cuts, to the wonderful uses of color and pattern, I wanted every single piece. Above are some of my absolute favorites, but trust me when I say you must check out the rest of the collection as well!

Backyard Barbecue

One of my favorite summer activities is definitely a good cookout with my friends. Last night was the perfect night to have one in celebration of a great friend who will be moving soon. I decided to keep my outfit relaxed yet preppy (pink and green were obvious choices) for this occasion. In case you haven't noticed, I'm slightly obsessed with both my newest pair of Jack Rogers as well as scallops this summer! They both are just too cute not to constantly wear! Finally, I would like to point out my silver bracelets. Unfortunately, I cannot link to them since I found them at vintage and antique stores. I have found some of my favorite silver bracelets at stores like I mentioned for incredible prices. My one tip for those who would like to try the same, is always make sure you're purchasing ones that are sterling silver otherwise they unfortunately will not stand the test of time. I hope this advice helps my fellow bargain shoppers! Enjoy!

Traveling the Red Brick Road

The weather a few nights ago was just too perfect not to take a walk in these beautiful gardens. For the occasion I wore an all blue look but varied the shades and hues. The shirt that I used is one of my favorites from J.Crew Factory because it is structured while being light enough for the summer heat. Hope everyone is enjoying the summer as well!

Summer Concert Series #2

Over the weekend I was able to see the amazing Hozier in concert! Even though there was some terrible rain, it was still such a great night and he was spectacular live. Below are photos of my outfit before I was completely soaked and surprisingly even my heels held up in the downpour. Additionally, I absolutely love peplum tops like the one I wore because I feel they just instantly elevate an outfit! They add a fun and flirty dimension to the outfit in comparison to the more structured necklace. Lastly, I would definitely recommend taking a purse like the one I did to any summer concert. There is nothing worse than getting a drink spilled on your favorite new bag. Check out Forever 21 for some awesome options! Enjoy!

One category that has been growing quite rapidly for me lately is jewelry. Below please find some of my favorites which I hope to add to my collection soon! If you think I missed a piece that should definitely be on here, please feel free to write a comment at the end of the post!
